SAT And ACT Exams
Some four-year colleges and universities require the SAT or ACT for admission. Students should check to see if colleges they are interested in require one of these exams. It is recommended that students planning to take the SAT and/or ACT, should do so by the end of their junior year.
The PSAT/NMSQT is administered at North Warren in the middle of October for juniors who sign up to take the exam. The format is similar to the SAT, so it provides a good opportunity for students to prepare for the SAT. Khan Academy offers free Digital SAT prep, students can work on improving their score on specific sections of the SAT.
Students must register online to take the ACT, or the SAT weekend. The SAT is also offered at North Warren during the school day, typically in mid April. Students and parents/guardians should fill out the 2024-2025 Fee Waiver Eligibility Form to see if they are eligible for a SAT and ACT fee waiver.
Students that normally receive testing accommodations through an IEP or 504 Plan may be eligible for some or all of their testing accommodations for the SAT or ACT. Students must apply to have their accommodations approved by the College Board (SAT) and/or ACT. Juniors planning to take the SAT and/or ACT that normally receive testing accommodations, should contact the Guidance Office as soon as possible.
